Thanking God for His faithfulness!

Dear friends:

Having returned from a three-week, six-state, seven-city, 2500-mile tour of the southeast with my dear friend Peter Ngwili, I am writing to say (as Peter would put it) a VERY BIG THANK YOU to the many, many people who welcomed us so warmly and responded so graciously in our times with you.  The conversations, dinners,  meetings, presentations, Sunday School classes, and services of worship during which Peter shared bits of his story and ministry have been deeply encouraging.  Peter told me as he was preparing to return to Tanzania that his time here was ‘transformational’.

As many of you know, Peter’s work for the last 18 years has included overseeing the completion of more than 150 well projects touching over 450,000 people.  In addition, Peter has created and implemented the Church and Community Mobilization Process, a three-year educational program that empowers the poor to leverage their spiritual, intellectual, and material resources to begin to rise out of poverty.  This program has been completed in 40 villages, with another 10 soon to start the training.  The combination of sound biblical/gospel teaching, accessible water, and the CCMP is bringing lasting change to this region of Tanzania.  It is an extraordinary privilege to be connected to this great work!  I want, again, to say thank you for your willingness to learn more of this story.  And I am extremely thankful to be able to share with you that commitments have been made to fund an additional 15 (and possibly more!) well projects in response to Peter’s presentations.  We are well on our way to the goal of completing 25 new projects in 2024.  As each of these projects is the ministry of a local church for its community, we continue to pray that each church in the diocese (a total of nearly 200) would enjoy the gift of safe, clean water for those in need.

I am also grateful to the many pastors, mission committee members, and mission committee chairpersons who have expressed interest in Peter’s support.  Please pray with us that Peter’s support need will be fully subscribed.  That need is $35,000 annually, an amount that covers his personal and program expenses.  Currently, five churches support Peter at a total of $16,400.  The balance of his support has come from one-time gifts and generous donors.  Please pray that six to eight churches will join this partnership supporting Peter at an average of $2,500 per year: a little more than $200 per month, per church.  Thank you!

If you or your church are interesting in helping with this wonderful ministry, the donate button will take you to our National Christian Foundation account page where you will find options for giving.  If we can answer any questions for you, please don’t hesitate to email (mmalone@ipcmemphis.org or rbrowning@ipcmemphis.org) or call (901-685-8206).  Again, thank you!
